A Lil' Spring and A Deal!

Good morning, guys!  I was really feeling this warm weather we are having and decided to get a little springy!  It was great timing since I really wanted to share a special that is going on over at Lil' Inker Designs.  You can get the Hello, Awesome Stamp Set and Awesome Word Die free this month (while supplies last) with a $75 purchase!

Now, through February 28th, 2018 (EST) or while supplies last, place an order of $75 or more and receive the Hello, Awesome Stamp Set and Awesome Word Die - a value of $15.95!  Just add both items to your cart and apply the code AWESOME at checkout!  Simple as that!  Now here's the springy card I created to share this news!

I used some Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to create the watercolor stripes on my background.  They were super easy to use and I LOVE how bold the color is.  I used a water color pen to add some splatter and react with the markers.  So fun!  Next, I stamped and colored my bunny and carrot from the Rustic Spring Stamps.  Next, I used the Rustic Spring Dies to cut my images and placed the carrot in my bunny's hand.  I added the image to my background with some foam tape before using the Awesome Word Die to cut a portion of my sentiment.  I cut it several times and layered the cuts to give it dimension and finally stamped the remainder of my sentiment using Hello, Awesome Stamp Set.  Here's a closer look:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you like my card for the day and will check out the awesome deal at Lil' Inker Designs.  Have a great weekend!

CTS #259

Good morning!!  Guess what?  I can see some grass in my yard and the I hope it stays that way.  Thanks to a few warm days, much of the snow has melted off and that makes me SO happy!  Especially because my middle guy fractured the top part of his humerus and I worry about him slipping on the ice.  Of course, it certainly doesn't seem to be slowing him down any.  We are in a waiting game to see if it will heal on its own and will hopefully know more in March.  He's going nuts not being able to do gymnastics.  I told him he could go and do everything one handed and, thankfully, he knew I was joking and didn't take me up on it.  Kids!  They always keep you on your toes.

Speaking of kids, my oldest is driving AND working!  What???  When did he get old enough for all of this?  We even got his high school course worksheet the other day and I'm in total denial that I'm going to have a high schooler next year.  How in the world did that happen?  So, I've decided I'm sticking my head in the sand and pretending it isn't.  Oh....look at all the pretty sketches and cards over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  Yup, that's what I'm concentrating on for now.  ;)  Here's my take on this week's sketch:

I used some sticky notes to mask off a space for my circles and then used some Catherine Pooler Inks to stamp the circles from The Stamp Market's Patterned Polka Dot Stamp Set.  I finished it off with the perfect sentiment in a circle also from The Stamp Market in the Best Ever Greetings Stamp Set.  Super simple and one layer!  Can't beat that.  Here's a close up:

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you over at CAS(E) this Sketch!  You won't want to miss it!

Hummingbirds and Flowers

Hello, hello!  I have slowly dug myself out of the 16" of snow we got last week to finally share a fun card I made using the new Frantic Stamper Release.  It is full of awesome mom and floral themed items and I had the best time with them.  Here's one of my creations:

I decided to do some kraft of kraft with the Floral Frame and Hummingbirds (FRA-DIE-10412).  Then I needed some pops of color so I cut the hummingbird and the Grow and Bloom (FRA-DIE-10414) from water color paper before adding some bright pops of green and pink.  I just love how it looks on the kraft.  Here's a closer look:

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Off to move a little snow so it is easier to get out the chickens!  They do NOT like the "white lava".  Ha ha!  Have a great day!

CTS #258

Snow snow snow...can someone please take this stuff away?  I'm over it!!!  Unfortunately, more is coming tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday.  Oy with the snow already!  He he he.  I hope you are all having a warmer and less white time of it than I am.  If not, I totally sympathize.  All this snow made me go the total opposite direction for my take on this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.  I needed some green to at least make me feel warm.  Here's my take:

Doesn't that just totally make you feel like there couldn't possibly be snow on the ground?  Ha ha!  I had a great time with some Catherine Pooler Inks and the Succulent Stamp Set from The Stamp Market.  I just love all the options in this stamp set for decorating the pots.  Totally cute.  This card couldn't be any simpler though.  One layer and simply stamped...not even any masking.  Here's a closer look:

I hope you liked my take on the sketch and that you will come join us this week at CAS(E) this Sketch.  Have a great week!

CTS #257

Hi, you guys!  Sorry the blog has been so quite the past two weeks.  It has been nuts here in Iowa.  I've been having a blast helping out more at the gym and the boys just seem to get busier and busier.  My oldest is done with wrestling but has his first job interview this afternoon so I'm sure things aren't going to get any less crazy since I still have to drive him around.  Ha ha!  Not to worry, I will soon adapt to this new level of crazy.  Don't we all?

One thing you can always count on is that you will absolutely get a post from me every Thursday because I can't resist a good sketch and today's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge is one of my favorites!  I loved Michele's sketch the first time and I loved it again this go round.  I hope you'll join us and have some fun with it also.  Here's my new take:

I had some serious fun with this sketch and some awesome stamps from The Stamp Market.  I started with a white card base and stamped the Dotted Background Stamp up a portion of the card to represent the flowers in the sketch.  Next, I tore some vellum and stamped the "happy" from Holiday Hellos and embossed it in teal (I also did a pink version) before adding the remainder of the sentiment and attaching the vellum to the card by wrapping it around the card front.  My vellum was still a little loose so I added a strip of black to the bottom to cover some adhesive I used on the vellum.  Finally, I finished it off with some asterisks and an enamel dot.  Here's a closer look:

Now for my original take on the sketch, CTS #156:

Different but equally fun!  You can see my original post for more info on this card.  I'm so happy you stopped by today and I hope to see you over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  Have a great week!

CTS #256

Good morning!!  I hope you guys are all ready for another sketch this week at CAS(E) this Sketch.  This week it's one of my sketches and wouldn't you know it...it had me stumped.  Don't you hate when you stump yourself?  Luckily, after making several different cards, I finally made one that I liked.  Here it is:

With all the layers on the sketch, I tried all sorts of ideas but then I thought about the We Connect Stamp Set set from Lil' Inker Designs and it was perfect!  I stamped it on watercolor paper and then started layering rainbow water colors.  I finished it off with a sentiment from the I'll Be Brief Stamps.  Here's a closer look:

Sorry for my crazy shadows...I was late and had to take photos with my phone.  Ha ha!!  That just goes to show how much I struggled with my own sketch.  I hope you have a blast with it and that the team's creations inspire you!  Head on over to CAS(E) this Sketch to join us!

Spring Bunny

Hi, you guys!  I hope you all had a wonderful week and are gearing up for an awesome weekend.  We are heading out on a short little ski trip tomorrow and I will happily be sipping coffee in the lodge while the kids and husband ski.  I tweaked my back a few weeks ago and it's not quite right yet which means I don't want to risk messing it up again.  Before I get packing, I wanted to make sure to share another springy card with you using the January Frantic Stamp Release goodies!

I thought this Vintage Bunny Die (FRA-DIE-10385) was so cute, I couldn't wait to cut him out of some watercolor paper and add just a touch of color and what good is a bunny without his Vintage Easter Basket and Eggs (FRA-DIE-10388)?  I cut the eggs from watercolor paper to make their coloring soft and springy before adding them to the basket which I cut from wood veneer cardstock.  Once I had these guys done and ready, I wasn't really sure what my plan was with them until I saw the Modern Wreath Die (FRA-DIE-10392).  I felt like that would be the perfect grounding point and would be a nice subtle touch in the background.  I cute this from some light pink patterned paper and added it to a very neutral patterned background paper.  After layering my scene, I felt like it needed just a pop of black so I added a sentiment with the Elegant Happy Spring Easter Words Dies (FRA-DIE-10393) which then let me to trim my background and center the whole thing on a black cardbase for just a touch more black.  Here's another look:

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great weekend!
